Description
This black and white photograph shows a section of Decatur Street in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Taken early in the morning when few people have ventured out yet. New Orleans is know for many wonderful things, but quiet is not one of them. I guess the reason the French Quarter is not know for being quiet is because only a few get to witness the quiet of New Orleans. Only those that get up early enough to see the streets empty (almost). There are still sounds; an occasional car, the sound of music somewhere off in the distance (probably Bourbon Street), a truck backing up. All the sounds of a city are still there, just not as many, but at this time of day you can also hear the drip of water from a building, or from one of the plants on a balcony where the owner just watered them. You can hear the sound of pigeons and even the sound of their wings as they fly by. It doesn't last long, but it's just as magical as the party sounds at night.
The deep blacks and bright whites of this black and white photograph as well as the detail rich midtones make this fine art print a wonderful addition to any collection.
